However, there are precautions while handling contact lenses the reason being poor handling of the lenses could lead to eye infections and other eye complications. Therefore, they need to be handled with sensitivity or care. Actually, if one is not confident in handling the contacts then it is advisable to use glasses. So the more one is aware of the risks involved the easier it will be to take precaution and choose what one would prefer whether disposable or daily lenses.

The first one being one needs an eye practitioner who will provide one with instructions on how to handle, insert, clean, remove, store, disinfect and wear them. This simple procedure cannot be overlooked considering that the lenses can easily be contaminated with bacteria resulting from dust and other elements. It is also advisable to have regular visits with the optician and get further recommendations on how to handle the lenses. In addition, it is advised to cleanse, disinfect and rinse the lenses daily as one removes them from the eyes. This procedure should not go longer than 12 hours or otherwise one has to repeat the disinfection process. In case, one still feels lost there are usually instructions for every contact lens bought. You should try avoiding irritating fumes and vapors while wearing daily contact lenses. Also, it is not wise to have them on at night or while sleeping. In case of any irritation one should remove them immediately and consult their eye practitioner.

There are also warnings on what to avoid while wearing daily contact lenses. These tips come in handy for persons who have the daily contact lenses. The first rule is one should never use tap water, saliva or any other form of liquid besides the solutions for lubrication and wetting the lenses recommended by the eye-care professional. Secondly, one should never use any cosmetic products like the lotions, perfumes, sprays and creams either on the lens or the eye. Another precaution is one should never use finger nails, some tweezers or other tools other than the ones recommended for removing the lenses of which after that one should put them on the hands. It also advised one not to use eye drops while wearing the lenses or any eye medication unless advised by the eye-care professional. One should also not wear the lenses longer that it has been advised by one’s eye practitioner.

In recent findings, a certain fungus known as fusarium which is mostly found in plant materials and soil in the tropical and subtropical areas has been found to cause eye infections to wearers of contact lenses. In order to prevent the contamination with this fungus one needs to follow the recommendations for handling daily contact lenses otherwise it is an infection that can cause  blindness and prevalent in warm areas. Otherwise, daily contact lenses maintenance can be very simple and easy just as long one takes the necessary precautions.
